Why Acts?

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” - 2 Timothy 3:14–17

The value of the Acts:

• Historical record.

• Inspiration – confidence, enthusiasm, vision and power.

• Realistic – made up of newly redeemed sinners – “the rivalries, hypocrisies, immoralities and heresies which troubled the church then as now. Nevertheless, one thing is certain. Christ’s church had been overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit, who thrust it out to witness.” (Stott, Message of Acts, p10).

May our journey into this book be just a beginning to understand correctly, to look for the right things and so be challenged and encouraged to see Christ’s work of buidling His Church continue in and through the ministry of Cornerstone Bible Church of Sonora.
