Ephesians 4:25-32 Essential Elements of a Transformed Church

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” - Ephesians 4:1-3

Where there are people regularly gathered we can expect to eventually encounter conflict.  This is no less true in God’s gathered family, the Church.  When people are saved by Jesus Christ, they bring “baggage” (we ALL have it—there is none perfect, none sinless).  The Gospel of Jesus Christ is powerful to save (Romans 1:16-17) and powerful to transform (Romans 12:1ff).  BUT, that change takes time.

Even in the earliest church, the very first generation, there was bias and conflict that needed to be worked through—both in doctrinal differences and relational conflict. At CBC, we truly believe that God’s Word is sufficient to give us the guidance, even specific steps, to help us walk through those differences in a way that honors God and blesses us! (2 Peter 1:3-4).

Our series into Ephesians 4:25-32 is intended to encourage and exhort Cornerstone to pursue and gain the right elements for godly relationships and to continue our journey of being saved and “being sanctified” (changing and growing to Christ-likeness).  We desperately want to be a church that is a display of God’s life-giving, life-transforming power. All this to the end that our unsaved friends, family, co-workers, etc would see the changes, see the hope, see the unity, and wonder and ask about the hope we have (2 Peter 3:15; John 17:20-24) and seek Jesus Christ.
